Land, trees and mountains

On the final day of the PASOS landscape leadership workshop in Tela, Honduras, several participants wrote and sang this touching ode to the landscapes of their country.

The week of learning, sharing, and planning inspired them to write and perform the song, which emphasized their determination to “sow” good stewardship of their country’s natural resources. The performers included Nilia Zumilda Duarte, Jorge Salaverri, Airen Wood, Suyapa Saldívar, and Sandra Chavez.

Paisajes de mi País

Que bello son los paisajes
Paisajes de mi país
Si no lo contaminamos
Viviremos muy feliz

Que lindos los animales
Saltando de rama en rama
Que alegres corren los ríos
Por las faldas de montaña

A sembrar, a sembrar
Todo vamos a sembrar

Necesitamos apoyo
Del Equipo Solidaridad
De los Fondos Holandeses
Y de nuestra comunidad

Gracias le damos a Dios
Por darnos esta visión
De proteger los recursos
Que nos dan prosperidad

A sembrar, a sembrar
Todo vamos a sembrar

English translation

The Landscapes of My Country

How lovely are the landscapes
The landscapes of my country
If we don’t contaminate them
We’ll live very happily

How beautiful are the animals
Jumping from branch to branch
How happily the rivers flow
At the base of the mountain

To sow, to sow
Everything we will sow

We need the support
Of the Solidaridad team
And the Dutch funds
And from our community

We give thanks to God
For giving us this vision
Of protecting the resources
That give us prosperity

To sow, to sow
Everything we will sow.
