This brief was produced by EcoAgriculture Partners and the FAO Liaison Office for North America following the presentations and discussion at the first in our newest event series for policymakers and conservation and development professionals in Washington, D.C. and beyond, “Towards Sustainable Landscapes.”
The brief highlights key messages (i.e. policy imperatives) to support and encourage integrated landscape strategies that will help achieve the sustainable development goals and mitigate climate change.
The event featured opening remarks from Vimlendra Sharan, Director of the FAO Liaison Office for North America and Sara J. Scherr, President of EcoAgriculture Partners. The featured speaker was Paula Caballero, Global Director, Climate, at World Resources Institute. Panelists in the discussion that followed, moderated by Sara Scherr, were: Kathleen Merrigan, Professor of Public Policy, Executive Director of Sustainability, and Director of the Food Institute at the George Washington University; Ann Bartuska, Vice President for Land, Water, and Nature, Resources for the Future; Leonard Jordan, Acting Chief, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.
