Two decades ago, EcoAgriculture Partners set out on a bold mission to help humanity reimagine its relationship with nature through more thoughtful, sustainable agriculture. Ever since, it has been supporting community leaders, from farmers and teachers to government officials. We believe that achieving healthier people, ecosystems, and economies requires all of us to work together.
"We have no future if we don't have agricultural systems that are good for biodiversity and ecosystem services," said Sara Scherr, president and founder of EcoAgriculture Partners and chair of the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People initiative. "We didn't have natural resource management practices that were good for farmers, and that was really the spark; we needed to find those solutions and ensure everyone had access to them."
This year, EcoAg is celebrating its 20th anniversary. We hope you read, watch and share our community's stories with your friends and colleagues. Join us as we continue to fulfill our mission of harnessing collaboration to implement robust, sustainable development that restores nature while fighting rural inequality and poverty. Together, we can create solutions for the world's toughest challenges.
Decades of Boosting Livelihoods and Restoring Nature
To kick off our year of celebration, we hosted a webinar in which visionaries from EIT Climate-KIC, the Agroecology Coalition, and CIFOR-ICRAF joined EcoAg to discuss Integrated Landscape Management (ILM). Topics included how ILM has been successful, what challenges exist, and what's in store for the future of food systems, biodiversity, and human well-being.
The panelists shared success stories from landscapes worldwide and insights into what needs to happen for landscape approaches to become more commonplace. "ILM is more mainstream than people realize because people don't recognize that their work would be considered ILM work," said Scherr. "People are working across sectors, across huge land areas with long-term plans."
To close the event, the panelists reflected on working with EcoAg over the last two decades. Watch a complete recording of the webinar on YouTube.
Take a Dive Deep Into Who We Are
Our 20th-anniversary celebration page presents stories of people creating positive impact through their passion for food. From gardeners to chefs, farmers to restaurant-goers, food is one passion that connects people. It helps people build connections with one another and binds them to the land. Besides providing sustenance, food systemshow people produce, transport, consume, and waste foodsignificantly impact the quality of our soil, the state of our climate, and the overall health of our planet.
To continue improving food systems, it is critical to bring people together to see progress in biodiversity and water conservation. Over the last twenty years, some people have described EcoAg as an enabler who innovates ways of collaborating to create sustainable landscapes. Watch this video, where partners worldwide share the uplifting stories from their collaboration with EcoAg.
Our Vision by 2043
Over the next two decades, humanity must transform systems from agriculture to manufacturing, which has deeply harmed our climate, land, biodiversity, and water. EcoAg is a crucial player in helping the planet escape crises that impact all areas of life. Our vision is that by 2043, healthy landscapes worldwide will be home to regenerative practices, allowing people and nature to thrive. Leveraging our extensive knowledge and robust collaborations, EcoAg will boost the work of these landscapes and reform insufficient policy and finance systems. Together, we can scale, deepen, and accelerate our collective impact. We thank you for joining us.
