Best practices for land management

These posters are formatted for large scale printing to use in training English-speaking smallholder farmers best practices for sustainable land management that improve agricultural outcomes while achieving measurable climate change mitigation. They are based on the training manual developed together by EcoAgriculture Partners, Vi Agroforestry and the Tanzanian development and conservation consulting firm Environmental Resources Management Center for Sustainable Development (ERMCSD).

Tested with world’s first farmers to sell carbon credits from soil carbon

They were developed and tested as part of a participatory research project at the heart of Vi Agroforestry’s efforts, supported by the World Bank, to develop the first verified carbon credits from soil carbon. In the end, over 40,000 farmers were eligible for credits. The training materials have been incorporated into the standard Vi Agroforestry training protocol for soil carbon-based climate change mitigation in East Africa.

Open access, use widely

These materials are free and open for any climate mitigation or sustainable land management program to use and adapt. The practices described are widely applicable, and the processes are easy to understand and affordable for most smallholder farmers.
