Ecoagriculture: A Review and Assessment of its Scientific Foundations

Overview

This report explores the three main objectives of ecoagriculture: 1) agricultural productivity, 2) biodiveristy conservation and 3) livelihood support, poverty reduction, rural vitality and contributions to human well-being. It assesses each of these areas individually while considering the concepts, opportunities and challenges in the production of food and ecosystem services, biodiversity conservation, and economic evaluation of multi-objective production systems to improve social and human welfare. It concludes that there is sound scientific foundation for the concept of ecoagriculture.
