Seth Shames leads EcoAgriculture’s work on policies and financial mechanisms to support integrated agricultural landscape management. His work at EcoAgriculture Partners over the past 12 years has touched on a wide range of enabling environment elements within landscapes. The purpose of this work is to build the underlying policy and investment conditions in which sustainable food systems can be nurtured within context of multi-stakeholder landscape initiatives.
Seth’s specific areas of work have included finance for integrated landscape management, climate-smart agriculture, payments for ecosystem services, integrated policy development, and eco-labelling of agricultural products. Most recently he led development of the Landscape Investment and Finance Tool (LIFT) which is being adopted rapidly by a variety of international conservation and agricultural development organizations around the world to identify and attract financing to support their multi-stakeholder landscape visions.
Seth holds a Masters of Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a BA in Anthropology and Environmental Science from Columbia University. Before he came to EcoAgriculture Partners Seth worked on farms and organized Community Support Agriculture projects in New York City linking local farmers with low income NYC residents.Contact Seth
