Traditional approaches to community development and conservation have left millions mired in poverty, untold species on the brink of extinction and climate change threatening us all. We have a better way.
We are an action research center reimagining people’s relationship with nature. We solve the world’s biggest challenges through cooperative, inclusive land use. Our holistic approach is called integrated landscape management, which marries ecosystem restoration and nature conservation to sustainable development.
We investigate how landscapes can help communities enshrine robust, long-term sustainable development. We then build practical tools, services, and networks to support them as they implement this approach. Beyond expanding knowledge and local capabilities in this field, we work to root interventions in collaboration, giving everyone a seat at the table and a voice in decision-making. Finally, we advocate for more fair and ethical regional, national, and international land-use policy.
Pioneering creative financial mechanisms that enable integrated, landscape-scale transformation.
Driving policy change at all levels to enable and support large-scale holistic approaches that restore ecosystems while improving people’s lives.
By empowering multi stakeholder partnerships, we ignite community efforts to implement integrated, cross-sectoral approaches that boost livelihoods, lift economies, and help ecosystems thrive.
We are conveners, uniting people and organizations to multiply our individual efforts for the good of communities and nature. That’s why we cofounded the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People initiative, a radical collaboration of environmental, sustainable development, technology, and academic institutions working together to accelerate landscape efforts to sustain and restore ecosystems, build rural prosperity, and confront climate change.
From inspiring stories to thought-provoking research, dive into our wealth of resources, news, and updates.
We support landscape leaders with tools, training, facilitation, and connections to manage land and resources holistically so people and nature thrive.
