Patricia Bon is a Program Associate for the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People initiative, where she co-leads the Community Catalyst Design Team. Her work is currently focused on facilitating the development and testing of the Community Catalyst with two teams of technical partners in Kenya. She also provides support for the 1000L Hub and the Landscape Leaders Advisory Group.
After completing her BA in Sociology from the University of Edinburgh, Patricia cooked professionally for 8 years. During this time, she became increasingly interested in sustainable food systems and community development, which led her to pursue her MA in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Before joining EcoAg, Patricia coordinated the DC Master Gardener program, developed a food access program for a state government in Brazil and led a bilingual participatory planning project for a community garden in Chicago which received a Community Outreach award from the American Planning Association – Illinois. While pursuing her MA, Patricia also received the Rob Mier Award for Social Justice and Equity Planning from UIC.
Patricia is Brazilian but currently lives in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with her partner, daughters and two cats. She is passionate about agroforestry, participatory planning, and integrated landscape management. In her spare time, Patricia loves to bake, travel and do pottery.
