EcoAgriculture Partners seeks a motivated and bright writer, researcher and thinker to join our team as a Program Intern.

EcoAgriculture Partners is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, engaged in research and advocacy in sustainable agriculture, rural development, landscape restoration and biodiversity conservation. Specifically, EcoAgriculture Partners strives for a world where agricultural communities manage their landscapes as ecoagriculture to enable them simultaneously to enhance rural livelihoods, conserve biodiversity and ecosystem services, and sustainably produce crops, livestock, fish and fiber.

EcoAgriculture Partners is the convener of the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (1000L) initiative, a radical collaboration of change agents working together to accelerate landscape efforts to sustain and restore ecosystems, build rural prosperity and confront climate change.

Reporting to the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People Program Coordinator, the intern will undertake program activities for EcoAgriculture Partners over a negotiable period that can begin as soon as the right candidate is available. The program intern will gain an understanding of integrated landscape management by supporting the work we do in finance, policy, capacity development and climate-smart agriculture. 


The 1000L Program Intern will regularly interact with program staff across the 1000L initiative and gain an understanding of international rural development and finance, integrated landscape management, and international policies related to agriculture, ecosystem restoration and biodiversity. The Intern will also meet weekly with the 1000L Program Coordinator for feedback, to monitor the status of projects, and to develop projects of their own design.

Tasks and duties include:

  • Contribute to the writing of knowledge products related to integrated landscape management;
  • Contribute to the development of a Global Action Network fostering an active and engaged community of Landscape Leaders and practitioners;
  • Support the coordination of various workstreams within the 1000L initiative;
  • Work with EcoAg staff and the staff of 1000L partner organizations to co-design and test tools and services part of the 1000L portfolio to support Landscape Partnerships;
  • Work remotely with local Landscape Leaders to test tools and implement projects to support landscape action plans;
  • Support convening and partnership development activities to grow and strengthen 1000L;
  • Various outreach and administrative tasks as assigned.


  • College junior/senior, grad student, or recent graduate with a background in environmental studies, agricultural development, policy or a related subject;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Experience synthesizing complex information for a general audience;
  • Strong multi-tasker able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or French;
  • Flexible and willing to learn


  • Experience working in a multicultural, multi-stakeholder environment;
  • Demonstrated experience or familiarity with development, conservation or agricultural programs or projects globally;
  • Potential to connect the internship to their program of study (i.e. undergrad or graduate research/thesis project related to integrated landscape management).


A stipend of approximately $400/month (depending on time commitment per week) is available.
