EcoAgriculture Partners president and CEO Sara Scherr is a member of the Advisory Board for the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Action Track 3: Nature Positive Production. The UNFSS is currently selecting “game-changing solutions’ to be proposed for global support and mobilization. Members of the Action Track, along with EcoAg’s partners in 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (www.landscapes.global.org), are proposing as one game-changing solution: “Strengthen Local Landscape Partnerships”.
Your voices will help to amplify this message! Please let the UNFSS know, through this weblink, that you also support global action to support Landscape Partnerships, and suggest ways you think that can be done most effectively: United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Action Track 3 Survey, Nature Positive Production by February 8th. You can also propose other landscape game-changing solutions for food systems transformation that promote ‘Nature-Positive Production’. Examples can be wide-ranging, such as supporting agroecology, regenerative agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, multi-stakeholder platforms, paying farmers for ecosystem stewardship, or integrated landscape finance. This was also the topic of discussion in a recent blog written by Sara Farley, Managing Director, Food Initiative at the Rockefeller Foundation, and our President and CEO, Sara Scherr, where they emphasized the need to take a landscape perspective due to the systemic nature of food systems, especially in the context of post-covid recovery.
We also invite you to look at the other four Action Tracks and see if you can propose landscape solutions that contribute to sustainable consumption, nutrition, equitable livelihoods and resilience here.
The UNFSS is not just another conference, this is a people’s summit that will engage directly with citizens in every country around the world in support of all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The focus on food is essential as what we eat brings us together as families, communities and nations. It underpins our cultures, our economies, and our relationship with the natural world. The world’s food systems touch every aspect of human existence, which makes them valuable instruments of change. The Summit is bringing together a diverse range of actors to transform the world’s food systems. Civil society, research and academia, government, the private sector, community associations, and other critical groups will all be represented to drive impactful, meaningful change for food systems everywhere.
Join us for a joint EcoAgriculture Partners-FAO dialogue on strengthening Landscape Partnerships for food systems transformation on March 30th
We would like to invite you to a food systems roundtable with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to discuss how Landscape Partnerships can support food systems transformation. It is essential that we amplify the voices and perspectives of the Landscape Partnerships whose members are collaborating for food systems resilience, sustainable development, and human rights around the world.
The dialogue is scheduled for March 30th, 9:00-11:00 A.M. Eastern Time (ET). The agenda will be a discussion on the vital role landscape partnerships fulfill and the support they need to be a ‘game-changing’ solution for food systems in the context of post-covid recovery in 2021 and beyond.
Please stay tuned to our communications channels for the webinar invitation!
