Increasing urbanization poses complex challenges related to food security and access, poverty, nutrition, natural resource management, and health, within both rural and urban areas.
City region food systems are vital for strengthening urban-rural linkages and can provide a channel through which these issues can be addressed at a subnational level.
How is integrated landscape management across rural and urban communities being pursued in this context? This roundtable session will focus on recent developments with Habitat III, as well as other international and domestic initiatives, and how they can guide the development of sustainable city region food systems worldwide. For more information, check out this video.
The Roundtable is part of an on-going series of roundtable discussions focusing on climate change, agriculture, and landscapes. The series has been jointly organized by EcoAgriculture Partners and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations since 2009. This year’s series focuses on policy for integrated agricultural landscape management.
